Lawson Family Christmas

Today was the Lawson Family Christmas (My granny and her many brothers and sisters, 9 to be exact). This was Zeke's first year and I didn't see him much because there were lots of new people to love on.

4 months old.....

We visited the dr. Friday for Zeke's shots and growth check. He is still growing, 13 pounds 1 ounce, 23 inches long, and 16 inch circumference head. It is hard to believe when I imagine the 4 pound baby I held in my arms 4 months ago. He still amazes me daily. He is sleeping 10-11 hours at night and about 5-6 hours during the day and eating 5 ounces every 3.5 hours. He doesn't like to cuddle much anymore which makes me sad. He thinks he is a big boy and should just sit up all the time. He is holding his head up very well when on his belly and when raised to a sitting position. He has really decided he can use his hands to do things besides just gnaw on them. He bats at his toys and holds on to me or touches my face while eating. He loves to lay in the floor and play, but doesn't enjoy tummy time all that much. He is starting to like it a little better and can tolerate it for up to ten minutes sometimes. He just can't figure out that nub. It needs to be farther underneath him to support him and he wants to put it in the same place his other arm is when propped and it always ends up being behind him not supporting anything. He will figure it out eventually, he just may walk before he crawls.

Zeke met santa for the first time at Greenway in Newport. Abbi came along to make sure he wasn't scared of him. She held his hand and when he got up there he wasn't scared at all.

Thanksgiving is always one of my favorite holidays, a time to be thankful and enjoy family. This year we have an extra blessing in our lives, our not so tiny miracle. He is the most amazing person I have ever met, Mom always told me I wouldn't understand how much she really loved me until I had my own child and she was so right, a mother's love is so hard to describe, you just have to experience it. We are so blessed to have him in our lives, can't imagine having any holiday without him. God blesses our family daily as he continues to thrive! This morning when we were at my grandma's Dustin carved the turkey and he said ok here's the wishbone. We broke it and I got lucky, he looked at me and said if you wished for the same thing I did we'll be okay and I said I did. We never said another word about that wish, but I know we wished for the same thing (for Zeke to continue to do well and not have any other problems). That is another thing I have to be thankful for today, Dustin, his decision to follow Christ and our closer relationship. There are so many other things to be thankful for, these are just a few new ones for this year. Ok enough of that.......

Today, we went to my Granny's in Newport to eat lunch. We visited there for a couple of hours and then headed to Joan and Bernard's house to visit. Everyone enjoyed spending time with Zeke (and us to I suppose, lol). He got to meet his Aunt Diane and Uncle David yesterday and somehow with all the pictures she took, we forgot to take one of them with him. We came home around four and watched the parade that we didn't finish this morning and now we are just relaxing thinking about bedtime. I hope your day was as blessed as ours...enjoy the weekend!

Not feeling so well....

Zeke has had a few rough days. He hasn't been feeling well at all. It started Friday night when he slept 12 hours I knew something was different. On Saturday, he took a 3 hour nap and then on Saturday night he got worse. He started wheezing a little and sounded like he was getting sicker. By Sunday evening, he was a sick little boy and in the middle of the night we were awakened to him struggling to breathe. I took him to the doc Monday morning, and he was glad we brought him in. He said he had an upper respitory infection but not bronchiolitis which was a very good thing. He said if he had that, he really wouldn't be able to breathe and he would need to be hospitalized. He told us to keep doing what we are doing but to get the humidifier closer and keep him hydrated. He doesn't have a high fever and I am glad for that. He is really happy his mommy gets to stay home this week, even though his Granny did a good job of babying him today also : )

Growing Zeke

He is getting bigger by the day and we got our proof yesterday. He is 11 pounds 4 ounces. He got his second Synagis shot yesterday and he HATED it. He cried so much, we had to carry him around and bounce for quite some time before he settled down. Needless to say, Mommy was crying and Daddy was about to. The dr. said there was no need to add the cereal that I have been waiting to give him because he is growing just fine and sleeping just fine without it. Then we went to Memphis to see his ortho dr. He said that he was progressing nicely and that if we thought the therapy was the reason to keep doing it because it was working. He took pictures of him for a conference on amniotic banding that he will be lecturing at, which we thought was pretty awesome. After we left, we had to make it to Jonesboro in time for therapy. It went very well and we were thrilled to get home last night. He had 4 dirty diapers today, which we are excited about, he only does that for his Granny A and I guess now for his Uncle P. We are so thankful to God for yesterday's appointments and we thank all of you for your prayers once again!

Yesterday, Zeke was 3 months old. Our boy is growing like a little weed, it is so hard to believe he is 3 months old today. We go tomorrow for our second Synagis shot at 9 am, to the ortho ped at 1 in Memphis and then to therapy in Jtown at 5 so he has a busy day tomorrow. He will get weighed and measured tomorrow, but I think he is around 11 pounds. On Saturday, Zeke slept through the night for the first time. He has been sleeping through the night ever since. For most that would be an exciting time, but for me it is so sad. I loved getting up with him and cuddling in the middle of the night. Now when I wake up, I just get to look at him and that is just what I end up doing instead of sleeping. Monday night we were both up just listening and watching him sleep, he is just so precious. These days, he is particularly fond of reading, watching baby einstein in the car, watching the fan, and playing in the floor. He still isn't a big fan of his tummy time, but we are getting there. He just gets so frustrated trying to prop on his nub, but we are working on ways to help him at therapy. A developmental therapist came on Tuesday and we should know the results of that in the next week or so. He smiles a little these days and coos occasionally, but still doesn't do either a whole lot. He is eating about 5 ounces every 3.5 to 4 hours and sleeping about 14 hours a day including his 8-9 at night. He loves staying with his Granny every day but he is also happy to see me in the afternoons. He is changing so much and I feel like I miss so much of his life while I am away. I have gotten rather stingy with him in three weeks, I want to hold him when I am at home. I am still not getting any better about leaving him either (other than for school), maybe when he is a year old Granny, Meme, Pawpaw, Nana, Poppy, Grandma, and Grandpa! It is time to start our nightly routine, I will post later about the dr's appointments! Keep us in your prayers tomorrow for a good report at the ortho!

Time has gotten away from me, the days go by even quicker now that I have gone back to work. Going back to work wasn't as bad as I had imagined, glory to God. The sunday before I went back I cried all day, but when I actually got there I was way to busy to cry. Now don't get me wrong I call every chance I get to check on him, but he is ALWAYS fine, imagine that. On the 15th we went to the dr and he was 9 pounds and 20 inches. He got 3 shots and an oral vaccine and had to go back the next week to get his Hib shot. On Saturday the 18th, we had a big day. We got up and went to the beauty shop to get Mom and Dad's hair done and then we were off to a family shower. We got lots of nice things and enjoyed visiting with the fam. We went to church for the first time on Oct 19th, he loves church and the singing, it puts him right to sleep. He is doing well in PT, his daddy took him last week when I had parent teacher conferences. They loved spending time together. That was strange for me because that was his first trip anywhere without me. This last week, we went to therapy and she could really tell he is starting to do better with belly time and steadying his head. He is supposed to be able to hold his head at a 45 degree angle for like 30 seconds while on his belly and start recognizing his midline by the end of this month when he "would" have been 2 months old.
